Veggies, Fruit and Flowers
Veggies & Fruit
Spring and Summer in the vegetable gardens here on the farm are busy times. Filling up the high tunnels early with cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers to sewing many different heirloom varieties of lettuces, radishes and beets. Before you know it the pea tendrils are ripe for the picking and the farmstand is chock full of farm fresh organic veggies. The beds are forked and weeded, the high tunnels planted and the succession planting of our veggies goes all summer long. May brings asparagus and June radishes. July is sour cherries from the orchard and August usually bring a lot of extra tomatoes.
This year we were able to offer greens all winter long excepting a six week period from March thru the middle of April. This year our goal is to offer vegetables in our farmstand all year round.
This summer we are offering flowers in our farmstand grown and hand crated into lovely summer bouquets by our own Caitlin Bingham. The flowers might not be in the farmstand everyday but keep checking in to see what is available. Our other exciting news is that we are offering four workshops in conjunction with Morrice Florist. These afternoon workshops will take place in our flower barn. Read more about this fantastic summer afternoon activity here.
