our philosophy: cows
In the spring, when the grass has started to grow again we all delight in those first few spring mornings when the fog rolls in off of the ocean. The happiest creatures on the farm those mornings are our Dutch-Belted dairy cows. They kick their heals up in excitement. This fresh pasture is when the milk really starts to create the basis the farm's terroir for our cheese. Our entire herd of grass-fed dairy cows are moved twice a day through the farm’s pastures in an intensive rotational grazing program throughout the entire grazing season.
our philosophy: pigs
Our heritage breed pigs live freely in the oak woods. Foraging around doing what pigs do best, eating grubs and making a mess. As part of their diet they enjoy the leftover whey from the cheesemaking process. You have never seen a pig as happy as a pig who gets whey every day.
our philosophy: chickens
Our 300 laying hens live a life of chicken luxury. They are moved every morning to fresh spot on the farm following up the cows and taking care to eat up any little bug that might cross their path. Free ranging as far as the eye can see our chickens produce the loveliest eggs around.
